Friday night, Stereohyped hit up the red carpet at Ciara’s 22nd birthday party (one of 7 parties on a 5-city birthday tour) at Runway in NYC. It was raining*, which caused attendees like Lenny Kravitz, Missy Elliot, and Fabolous to skip the red carpet and duck into the club. Ciara, of course, was on hand to talk to Stereohyped. And I’d like to think that it wasn’t because she had to, it being her party and all, but because she wanted to. She discusses T.I., her love for blogs, and crazy rumors on the premiere episode of Stereohyped TV.**
–Not on the video, but important to note. She stands by the “good friend” story, but her face pretty much lights up when 50 Cent’s name is mentioned. True story.
*Note to self: after getting rained on, touch up makeup before stepping in front of the camera.

Remember all that talk about Nicole Richie making a complete behavioral 180 for her unborn child? Maybe it was more like a 90 degree change.
According to the New York Post’s Cindy Adams, Richie was seen smoking in public not once but twice in the past few days. If Nicole Richie is really smoking-while-pregnant, I’m more shocked that she has the balls to do it in public than the fact that she’s doing it at all.

I’m not sure what message Star, Al, and Co. are trying to convey in this shot — I’m thinking carefree, youthful, drunk, Miami-beachy — but Star, among others, is a bit to old to make it believable. You’re on Court TV, for goodness’ sake. Put your leg down.

Now that all the gory details of Oprah Winfrey’s school scandal at Oprah Winfrey’s South African school are out, Winfrey, who has made multiple trips to and from Africa in the past few weeks, is struggling to diffuse the situation and regain the trust of students and their families.
“I’ve disappointed you. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry,” the talk show queen told families in an emergency meeting at the South African school in Henley-on-Klip, south of Johannesburg…
Oprah, who has spoken openly about being abused as a child, gave the girls her personal telephone number, her e-mail address and her postal address so that they could contact her around the clock.
She also suspended both the principal and another dormitory matron. I seriously doubt Oprah would cut corners when it came to hiring, and I am almost positive this sexually abusive dormitory matron just slipped through the cracks. Is it possible to feel bad for a billionaire?

Kanye West, with his fiancee Alexis Phifer, celebrated two of his favorite things yesterday in Los Angeles — Louis Vuitton, which inspired his nickname, and Murakami, who designed his Graduation cover art. He and a bunch of other fashion-philes attended the Louis Vuitton sponsored gala for the new Murakami exhibit. More after the jump.

Minorities will be less likely to trick or treat this year, according to a new survey.
The survey found that 73 percent of whites versus 56 percent of minorities said their children will trick-or-treat on Wednesday.
That disparity in the survey is similar to the difference in how people view the safety of their neighborhoods, according to the poll by The Associated Press and Ipsos. Lower-income people and minorities are more likely to worry that it might not be safe to send their children out on Halloween night.
Although it seems like mostly the white kids will be getting candy, I know that a lot of schools and community centers hold Halloween parties to provide a safe environment (and candy) for kids. Plus, it’s my understanding that even parents who live in the safest of neighborhoods aren’t really into the traditional trick-or-treat thing anymore because of safety concerns. Is it slowly becoming obsolete?

According to an unscientific study in the New York Post, Hillary Clinton owns Harlem. Especially Harlem women.
More than half of the 96 people questioned by a Post reporter in Harlem this week said they would vote for Clinton, with most preferring her experience as senator and first lady over relative neophyte Obama…
Fifty-seven percent chose Clinton; 19 percent favored Obama.
Clinton was not surprisingly a favorite among females, with 75 percent in her corner.
Most men found the anti-war Obama to be a fresh face.
“A lot of black voters have a problem with the war. And also, Obama is a mentor to us,” said George Danquah, 28.
Bill Clinton, a Harlem favorite who actually has his offices there, and the fact that Hillary is a New York senator has probably made her victory in NYC a foregone conclusion from the beginning. But forget politics, I’m wondering if the people in Harlem acted shockingly civilized during their interviews.

Before you overly sensitive blacks get all up in arms, understand that this (white) Houston school system police officer who created and distributed a booklet called the Ghetto Handbook (subtitled “Wucha dun did now?”) on the job has a black wife. And three half-black children! If you still don’t get it, this means that he didn’t do anything wrong.

Last I heard, Jennifer Hudson was still with her non-famous man of 8 years and Kerry Rhodes was with Melyssa Ford, all of which makes this news really juicy if there is any truth to it.
VOGUE’S Andre Leon Talley once again got his big fashion paws on “American Idol” alum Jennifer Hudson, squeezing her into a tight gold gown at the Fashion Group International’s Night of Star’s gala Thursday at Cipriani. The Oscar winner walked the red carpet with Talley, but once inside cozied up to her new man, New York Jets free safety Kerri Rhodes. “He followed right behind her in a separate car, but when they were inside they were holding hands all night and taking trips to the bathroom together,” said a spy.

Only two out of 28 the soldiers are still alive, but the Army is finally pardoning them — with honorable discharges and back pay — for a 1944 conviction for a riot that ended in the lynching of an Italian P.O.W. that an Army review board recently ruled was “fundamentally unfair.”
