Are you freaking kidding me with this?! I swear sometimes I just want to go on a cross country hugging/slapping/intensive psychoterapy tour of Black communities in the USA. THIS story depresses me more than the more black people in federal beds than in college dorms story.
I can believe it. That’s a nigga-hood-ghetto-runawayslave attitude. The same type of attitude that 14 and 15 year old girls have when they have babies so that they will have someone to love them. She wasn’t bored or scared. She wanted something to love and vice versa. That’s what I read from that.
yappay, I meant as an alternative to having your child have one. Lots of people have more kids because they are bored. Why else would a 40-something year old with kids in college be having more kids instead of celebrating their freedom?

BMD you’re so right. That “nigga-hood-ghetto-runawayslave” is way too common. The thing that makes me so sad about young girls who probably have babies because they want to love and be loved is that once they DO have a child they hate it. I see girls on the train and in my neighborhood who do nothing but yell, bully, and smack their small children (3 years old and under) when the child merely wants some attention and tenderness. Oh, man, I could go on and on about why the situation is so messed up. Grrr, now I’m sad and mad.
I can’t accept the whole I’m bored so I’m gonna have a baby concept, nor can I accept the I’m unloved so I’m gonna have a baby concept. Everybody has been bored at some point in time of life or another, especially around those ages. Never in my conscious or unconscious mind did I think that carrying a fetus for nine months was going to cure that. As for the love from a baby concept. The parent to show love to that child in order for it to be reciprocated. The child learns from what it sees being shown to them and others. If mama is not caring for the child properly (feeding, meeting basic needs), then that child is not going to show love back, especially the way they expect it to happen. I’m not trying to knock young mothers at all, I just don’t buy the excuses for having a baby, and that can happen at any age.
deevinej23, I agree that boredom has never led me to breeding, but I think people consider children a solution to all sorts of problems. People have kids to save their relationships or marriages. They have kids to please their parents who are yearning for some grand babies. They have kids because it’s supposedly the right time to whether or not they actually want them. Kids can bring people closer, but if you’re in a bad place, they will worsen all those issues.
I actually so a young black mother who is probably my age on the T this morning with her two kids, a daughter of about 6 or so and a son of about 4. Her daughter was taking her time getting seated so she pulled her daughter by one of her pigtails into her seat and proceeded to ignore and push away (literally) her kids. Kids don’t ask to be born and there are two so I’m guessing at least the younger one was planned. It’ll probably be a cycle because if you abuse and neglect your kids, they will go out looking for love elsewhere.
Children exacerbate any situation. Good ones become better and bad ones become worse.
what kind of dysfunctional shit is this? why was lil wayne 15 and on tour and not in school? and what kind of woman would want her son to have a child with just any old girl he finds, and with a 14 year old no less? does she know what childbirth could do to a 14 year old body? disgusting. this is what happens when you don’t have other things going for you in life like education, work, even a fucking hobby…you sit around having babies all day and thats your only accomplishment. and some don’t even raise them well, case in point lil wayne’s mother turning HER child into a baby factory to assauge her loneliness. lets hope she’s not encouraging that grandchild to start reproducing at 12.
