Yes! I was thinking the same thing when I saw the pic. I stared at her hair for a minute.

Have to admit, I was not going to go see this only becuase I was not impressed by all of Tyler Perrys work. He is hit or miss for me. Seeing that everyone has good things to say about it, I am finally sold and going to support black business as I should have in the first place.

I was getting may nails done yesterday and a white woman - who had seen the flick - said this to her friend, “it has an all black cast BUT it’s really good.”

I wasn’t stunned that she felt that way b/c we all know that white ppl see many things that are black as inferior, but I was stunned that she said it as if there were no black ppl (me!) around and as if it were ok??

Was I being too sensitive?

No, but it’s one of those that you just let slide. Pick your battles…

Naw, it’s one of those attention-getters that would make me do a double or triple take; then stare at her for a minute, shake your head, chuckle and then move on.

Bmd, you couldve said,”He has many other movies you should rent those as well.” I might have been abit sensitive too but you have to flip that situation into a win.

You need a really good flatiron (ceramic!) to get the hair straight, then curl the hair at the crown in heavier/larger curls, bump the ends of the rest of the hair then wrap it up and have the client sit under a heat cap for about 15 minutes. That’s how I would try to do it, but I’m not a hairstylist - just a mua that has to do hair sometimes. LOL.

On second thought…you might be able to brush that out from a wetset, too, if the client had…GET READY….a good grade of hair. Gasp!

One of my friends in LA has hair like that but longer and a little less flippy. She has natural hair. This New England humidity is no joke. I want her to visit just to see it ‘fro up. I’m going to save this picture and take it to a good hair stylist if I ever find one.

P.S.: Is that Janet’s hair? If so, she needs to do this instead of the weaves. She looks prettier and I’m sure it’s better for her hair line.

it’s all in the type of flatiron you use. sometimes you have to press it first if your hair is hella hard to straighten. We don’t have humidity in LA (thank god) but when I go to Louisiana you can cut that ish with a knife, but my edges never revert - and I’m running the streets 24/7 when I get there - so if you find a stylist that can put down a really good press and flatiron, your hair can standup to humidity. Seriously.

Only on my bad hair days. The elastic in my satin night cap wore out a bit so I’ve been having a bad hair week.
