It’s quite a rarity to have so many hip hop luminaries in one room, or one (Hammerstein) ballroom, as it was. But VH1 managed to cram as much talent as possible into their Hip Hop Honors show, which taped last night but airs Monday at 10 pm. Yes, there was a lot of talent there, but I don’t count Tracy Morgan, who hosted the awards and couldn’t quite get that teleprompter thing down. Could his SCRAM have been going off right about that time? No worries, I’m sure they’ll have that all cleaned up by Monday.
I had the pleasure of spending the evening in the press room, where the honorees and presenters came back to chat. In fact, so many VIPs were in attendance, I decided to write up my experiences in a handy superlative format. Check out the Best and Worst, plus lots and lots of pictures, after the jump.

A too-cool-for-school Chris Brown graces the cover of Vibe’s October issue. Inside, he squashes rumors about being infatuated with Ciara and proclaims that he’s a virgin — in our eyes…whatever that means. Also inside, an interview with notorious Newark mayor Cory Booker. I wonder if they asked him what its like to at the same time?
But forget about the two C.B.’s, I’m all about the “THE RISE AND TRAGIC FALL OF THE DEBARGE FAMILY.” Because what could be more relevant to today’s music and culture scene? Actually, I love a tragic rise and fall story, as long as its done right.
Lastly, the cover boasts a story described as “From Foxy to Remy: How Girl Rappers Fell Off.” Was Remy ever really on to begin with? I don’t think she counts.

50 Cent, Kanye West, Diddy, and Jay-Z, despite the fact that none of them are actually on the Screamfest tour, appeared onstage together at last night’s show in NYC. When 50 shares a stage with one guy he has steadily talked shit about for the past couple of weeks and another two he claims not to like, you pretty much realize that everything 50 does and says is for publicity. That’s if you didn’t realize it already.
Whether you like the people in the picture or not, it was a pretty big moment — orchestrated by actual Screamfest performer, T.I. — for 20,000 audience members in Madison Square Garden. Check out more pics after the jump.

Unfazed by his impending court date — although, come to think of it, he’s had five years to get used to the idea — R. Kelly joined Ciara onstage during the Scream Tour’s Chicago show. If she was about three years younger, I would be worried about this little collabo. Skeptical as I might be about these very inauthentic-sounding “quotes” that 50 Cent apparently gave a British newspaper recently, it’s fun to pretend everything you read is true. In this case, it would mean 50 Cent completely denying being in a relationship, let alone one with Ciara, and semi-admitting to some sort of fling with British model Danielle Lloyd.
“I love London so much I’m buying a place there,” Fiddy told The London Lite in Cyprus before he performed at Medfest alongside Akon, Amerie, Memphis Bleek and Mutya. “It’s a crazy city, the parties are wild and the women are hot!” By hot, could Curtis be referring to Danielle Lloyd with whom he was romantically linked not too long ago? “Danielle is a gorgeous girl but I am most definitely 100 per cent single right now. I don’t have time for relationships with my job. I’m on the road all the time doing my thing and having fun, I don’t want to be tied down right now.”
It’s like a low rent version of Diddy and Sienna.

I promise I’m not out to lambast BET at every opportunity, but last night I caught a minute of Take the Cake, the network’s new game show. It was truly, mind-numblingly, awful. And Toccara’s voice is kind of like nails on a chalkboard. Plus, the set is so low budget!
Speaking of low budget, the performers on the Screamfest 2007 tour stopped by 106 & Park’s “new” set, which looks like it cost BET about $100, yesterday. Check out pics of Ciara, Lloyd, Yung Joc, T.I., Rocsi, Terrence, and the cheapo 106 set after the jump.

Ciara must not be foremost in 50 Cent’s mind if he’s hooking up with girls that former British boy banders aren’t even interested in. Tabs are reporting that semi-famous-in-the-UK model Danielle Lloyd lost her footballer boyfriend over an alleged tryst with Ciara’s man last week. Do we think he brought 10 entourage members along for that hookup?
When Fiddy caught up with the buxom babe backstage he invited her back to his £2,500-per-night suit at the Landmark Hotel in West London, where they took a trip to the Candy Shop.
“Danielle was bragging to pals about how big he was – all over” a source told the Daily Mirror “She said he’s a mega-star in more ways than one.”
According to another source Lloyd “looked a bit wobbly after her late night.”
Dani was reportedly rejected by Take That star Jason Orange at the Di Concert the day before she met the rapper.
Judging by the way she was walking, we’re sure she didn’t mind.
Oh, that snarky British media. So we know that there is a big chance that none of this is true, just because it doesn’t seem all that reliable. But it’s not like it couldn’t be true, or that there aren’t hundreds of salacious stories that have never been printed in the paper or written about on blogs. In a nutshell, Ciara, your man will always act “like a boy.”
