Don Cheadle’s new film, the Kasi Lemmons-directed Talk to Me, will probably get him another Oscar nomination, if the reviews are any indication. The movie revolves around controversial Washington, DC DJ Petey Greene (Cheadle) and his straight-laced manager, Dewey Hughes (Chiwetel Ejiofor). Martin Sheen, Taraji P. Henson, Vondie Curtis Hall, and Cedric the Entertainer round out the cast.
I’m excited to see Talk to Me, which opens today, not only because of the hometown DC connection, but because all signs point to it actually being good. Check out some reviews after the jump.

Men’s fashion at an award show such as this is harder to judge, because many of the attendees arrive in the same clothes they would wear to the grocery store, the club, or the annual pimp convention — none of which are good looks. Don Cheadle, who won the humanitarian award for his work in Darfur, looks pretty dapper (and he gave a great acceptance speech). I can’t say the same for all of the guys in attendance. See for yourself after the jump.

The Los Angeles Film Festival had a special screening of the new Kasi Lemmons-directed film Talk to Me, about a controversial ex-con DJ in 1960’s DC, starring Don Cheadle and Taraji Henson. I smell Oscar for Don Cheadle, but when is that not the case? Check out more pics from the premiere after the jump.

Bono, the entertainment business’s resident bleeding heart, took over as guest editor for July’s Vanity Fair issue and focused on his favorite continent, Africa. To commemorate this historic event, famed photographer Annie Liebovitz shot 20 different covers.
As for the covers themselves, I was wondering why it looked like Madonna was about to kiss Maya Angelou’s ear and why Bush was violating Desmond Tutu’s space like that until Jossip informed me that the whole thing was supposed to look like a game of telephone. I’m not sure that is readily apparent, but the covers — featuring Alicia Keys, Brad Pitt, Condoleeza Rice, Don Cheadle, and Barack Obama, to name a few — are impressive nonetheless.

According to at least one reviewer who caught the premiere of Ocean’s 13 at Cannes last night, it was pretty fun to watch. Reports say the stars in the photo above have had to defend the film to critics in Cannes who don’t like its light-heartedness, even though the Ocean’s 13 castmembers have spent much of their time there raising millions of dollars for amFAR and Darfur relief. They aren’t allowed to laugh, too?
Don Cheadle, in France to debut Oceans 13 along with the rest of his all-star castmates, took a break from the nonstop party to attend the amFAR Cinema Against AIDS benefit along with the lovely ladies below. Earlier in the day yesterday, Cheadle and his Oceans 13 co-stars also raised for Darfur at a separate event. Cannes isn’t just about the movies.
Of course Beyonce got the most noms. Despite the lukewarm critical reception of B’Day, the voters wouldn’t have it any other way.
Monique will be taking a break from Charm School to host the June 26 awards, where Diana Ross will win a lifetime achievement award and Don Cheadle will win a humanitarian award for his work in Darfur. Check out a full list of nominees after the jump.
