If So, They Might Be An Adorable Couple

kerrywashingtoncommon.jpg

Now, we all know that Kerry Washington is one of my favorite celebrities ever. And Common? Well, I’ve made no secret of being a fan of both his musical talents and his external appearance (but only if the hat stays on). So I am pleased, no, honored to spread an unconfirmed rumor that they are an item!

According to SOHH, she directed his newest video. According to , she was seen backstage last night at his concert in Norfolk. And, while I didn’t see them together there, they were both at the Hip Hop Honors last week. That’s enough for me. Start picking out the engagement rings!

Martin Luther King Had A Dream, This Benefit Concert Was Probably Not A Part Of It
But It Was Nice, Nevertheless

mlk_kerrywashington.jpg
Hyped for weeks, last night’s Dream Concert, a benefit for the MLK Memorial in DC, might have been just a teensy bit disappointing, performance-wise (read about it here), but stars like Kerry Washington showed support, and it hopefully did its job in raising funds for the memorial. Plus, Garth Brooks came. That was nice. More after the jump.

Later On, They Exchanged Fake Compliments About Each Other’s Hair

lacon_tarajikerry.jpg

I’ve already told you guys how much I love black actress bonding. What I don’t love are those weird ’50s pin-up bangs Taraji Henson’s sporting these days or Kerry Washington’s roots. The talented ladies, who are pretty anyway, hugged it out last night at an LA Confidential magazine party and mingled with Keisha Whitaker, Beverly Johnson, Eric Benet, and others.

More after the jump.

Unfortunately, All Single Woman Don’t Have It Like Kerry Washington

kerrywashington.jpg

When you look (beautiful) and act (like you’ve got a good head on your shoulders) like Kerry Washington, it’s no surprise that the single life is not as hard as everyone makes it out to be. She recently told People that she has been reveling in her newly unattached status.

I had always met guys in other ways and never really did the whole dating scene where you go out on multiple dates with different guys,” she said. “I am totally the girl who gets introduced to someone through a mutual friend and a dinner party, falls in love and then is with them for like two years.”

But that was then. These days the actress is enjoying her single status – and finding the dating scene a lot less daunting than she had imagined.

Then again, she could just be lying. It doesn’t matter who you are — we all know Halle Berry’s history with men — the “freak dates” will find you.

Black Box Office
The Rise Of Fantastic Four

I could not be less interested in seeing Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer, because it’s not really my style and it is one of a long string of uninspired sequels in theaters this summer, but enough of you went to see it for it to make $57.4 million in its opening weekend and knock Ocean’s Thirteen out of its number one spot. I care because the film has a black director, Tim Story, and features both Kerry Washington, Andre Braugher, and the voice of Laurence Fishburne (he’s the Silver Surfer). So far this summer season, we have had a severe shortage of black talent in the major blockbusters, so it is nice to see the that the top two movies from the weekend feature major parts for black actors. The full box office rankings are after the jump.

Old Hollywood Glamour At Ocean’s 13 Premiere

clooneypittcheadle.jpg

According to at least one reviewer who caught the premiere of Ocean’s 13 at Cannes last night, it was pretty fun to watch. Reports say the stars in the photo above have had to defend the film to critics in Cannes who don’t like its light-heartedness, even though the Ocean’s 13 castmembers have spent much of their time there raising millions of dollars for amFAR and Darfur relief. They aren’t allowed to laugh, too?

Celebrities Dress Up For amFAR

amfar_doncheadle.jpg

Don Cheadle, in France to debut Oceans 13 along with the rest of his all-star castmates, took a break from the nonstop party to attend the amFAR Cinema Against AIDS benefit along with the lovely ladies below. Earlier in the day yesterday, Cheadle and his Oceans 13 co-stars also raised for Darfur at a separate event. Cannes isn’t just about the movies.

I Think I Cannes

cannes_kerrywashington.jpg

The Cannes Film Festival, the most well-known, prestigious, and posh international movie biz event, started a week ago. I’ve waited so long to post pics because, beyond hundreds of photos of (my girl crush) Kerry Washington looking impossibly glamorous (see above), the party has been a little light on revelers of the brown-skinned variety. Check out the few Americans (and one obnoxious Brit) working tirelessly to add some color to Cannes.

"Poiret: King of Fashion" Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

poiretjennifer-hudson.jpg

The annual Costume Institute gala was held in NYC last night, and many of our brightest stars came out, although I’m not sure why some were invited. I’ve been missing the glamorous, evening gown version of Jennifer Hudson since awards season ended, so I’m thrilled to see her in formal mode.
