In Touch magazine is officially five years old, and, although you probably don’t care at all, quite a few people (your favorite blog editor included) chose to attend their big celebration last night at NYC’s Tenjune. And I’m sure Kanye West’s special performance had nothing to do with it.
As I hinted in this morning’s Rewound, Janet Jackson was there with Jermaine Dupri, and, pardon me if I engage in a bit of exaggeration, she saved everyone in the packed club from a fiery death! Okay. Actually, she spotted a girl whose hair was on fire and put it out. So she saved the woman in question from some serious burns, which is commendable.
Check out some red carpet pics from the event after the jump, although a few people, such as Swizz Beatz, Evan Ross, Miss USA Rachel Smith, and LL Cool J aren’t pictured. The latter stood emotionless, his eyes concealed by mirrored sunglasses, during Kanye’s entire (amazing) performance. Could LL be taking out his on K.W.?

It’s quite a rarity to have so many hip hop luminaries in one room, or one (Hammerstein) ballroom, as it was. But VH1 managed to cram as much talent as possible into their Hip Hop Honors show, which taped last night but airs Monday at 10 pm. Yes, there was a lot of talent there, but I don’t count Tracy Morgan, who hosted the awards and couldn’t quite get that teleprompter thing down. Could his SCRAM have been going off right about that time? No worries, I’m sure they’ll have that all cleaned up by Monday.
I had the pleasure of spending the evening in the press room, where the honorees and presenters came back to chat. In fact, so many VIPs were in attendance, I decided to write up my experiences in a handy superlative format. Check out the Best and Worst, plus lots and lots of pictures, after the jump.

Though they’re separated and have each taken up with younger, hotter significant others, it doesn’t mean that Kimora can’t throw Russell star-studded surprise 50th birthday parties. Lots more pictures after the jump, including some heartwarming bonding between Djimon Hounsou and Russell. They should be a lesson for broken families everywhere!

See Kim Porter?
If you scroll through the rest of the pictures from Tenjune’s 1st anniversary party in NYC last night, you’ll also see a certain someone named Sean Combs.
Coincidence? I think not.

Fresh off of the high of not only forming a new band, but also signing a white male solo artist he will pay attention to for approximately 20 seconds, Diddy jetted off to Las Vegas for Magic, the huge bi-annual fashion trade show. While there, he ran into Bey and her, who are most likely shilling Miss Tina’s new “creole-inspired” HSN collection and House of Dereon. I imagine Magic becomes more and more like a hip hop convention every year, since every artist and their mother (ahem, Tina) feels the need to develop a clothing line. More pics after the jump.

• True to form, Kanye West plays it safe and gets bold with 50 Cent at the same time. I kind of like his style. [YT]
• And Kenny Chesney, whose last four albums debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, tells Kanye and 50 not to forget about him on September 11. [AHH]
• LL Cool J’s back in the acting business. His television show, The Man, might get a mid-season pickup. [EUR]
• Which is more frightening, the fact that Foxy Brown’s having a baby or the fact that Nicole Richie’s is? I’ve gotta say I’m on team Nicole with this one. []

• Fox Searchlight Pictures is conducting an open casting call to find the rotund man perfect for the leading role in a dreaded (for me, at least) Notorious B.I.G. biopic in the works. Are they really going to find someone to do Biggie justice? []

• As more and more people move to NYC, more and more black people move out. [G-ist]
• A British acting troupe can’t legally put on a show of The Full Monty, because local papers won’t let them advertise for a black actor to fill the role of a black character. [DM]
Perhaps emboldened by his relationship with consummate beef-starter 50 Cent, LL Cool J targets a number of famous names in his new song, “It’s A Queens Thing.”
I don’t slide like Usher
I don’t make no bands
I ain’t a frontin’ ass coward
I don’t rig Sound ScanI wish Rick and Russell was back
I miss the old Def Jam
‘Cause them new monkeys act like they don’t know who I am
The promotion and marketing wasn’t worth a damn
Now they on the balls again cause 50 my man?
You better watch out, LL. Say what you want about Diddy or Jay-Z, but Tameka Foster will come after you for talking about her man. And you may have muscles, but I bet hers are bigger.
