It’s pretty much a fact that Naomi Campbell is not such a great human being. But here she is with Dolce & Gabbana at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks event in London last night sporting loads of weave and a pretty ridiculous see-through dress and somehow still looking unspeakably fabulous. This is why she gets away with not being such a great human being.

After the jump, check out more pics from the glamorous event, including one of Alicia Keys looking beautiful from the waist up. You’ll see what I mean.

The Hip Hop Barbie & Ken

• Jay-Z wishes he looked like (a human version of) that. Beyonce should be glad she doesn’t. [C&D]

• Prodigy gets hit with a three and a half year sentence after pleading guilty to illegal weapons charges. Maybe his legal team needed more people. [AHH]

• Oddly sexy for a tire ad, but I’ll take it. []

• Why do all close male friends have to attract gay rumors? Omarion, though? I’m not sure… [QT]

Moments In Movie Promotion Hell: Samuel L. Jackson Doing The Soulja Boy

Oh, the things you do to promote a movie. Terrence and Rocsi convinced Samuel L. Jackson to “crank dat Soulja Boy” on 106 & Park. It was an interesting interpretation. Although, in Jackson’s defense, the Soulja Boy ridiculously complicated. And also just plain ridiculous. But I think Tom Cruise might have done a better job of dancing to Yung Joc.

Black Box Office

morgfreesamjack1.jpg

Evan Almighty, the most expensive comedy ever made, and 1408, a new thriller based on a Stephen King short story, have little in common except they hold the 1 and 2 spots on the weekend box office charts. Oh, and they feature two of our most celebrated black actors. Morgan Freeman reprises his role as God in Evan, the sequel to Bruce Almighty, and Samuel Jackson plays the manager of the hotel where 1408 is set. Neither of the movies got rave reviews, one of them didn’t make nearly as much money as it was supposed to, and in both cases the actors are playing second fiddle to white leads. Oh well, the summer screens are at least getting a bit more diverse. Check out the box office top 10 after the jump.

Samuel Jackson Was Reared On Root Lady Potions
Despite a propensity for Kangol hats, he turned out fine

samjack.jpg
Furthering the “black people are mystical” ridiculousness that pervades the entertainment business, Samuel Jackson opens up about his witch doctor experiences growing up:

“I grew up in the segregated south so sometimes when I got hurt, sick or whatever we couldn’t afford to go to the doctor. We didn’t go to the hospital because we figured they weren’t gonna see us anyway so they called The Root Lady who would actually come over and put very stinky stuff on you and chant. She would take herbs and we bought chickens off the trucks and when you killed them she got the heads and feet and she did stuff with them.”

He didn’t elaborate on the outcome of these Root Lady visits, but it sounds to me like she just had a really bad recipe for chicken soup.

Mea Culpa: I love Eve’s Bayou, a “black people are mystical” movie incidentally starring Samuel Jackson (and a pre-implant Meagan Good).

For The People Who Didn’t Watch The MTV Movie Awards
Don't Worry, It Will Be On 10 Times A Day For The Next Two Weeks

mtv_rihannaumbrella.jpg
From the picture, can you guess which song Rihanna sang at the MTV Movie Awards last night? Although the penultimate episode of the Soprano’s series pulled me away from the awards early, I did get a chance to listen to Rihanna sing Um-ba-rella (not so well, if you ask me) and watch Sara Silverman try her hardest to make Paris Hilton cry. I’ve always felt that the MTV Movie Awards were too scripted and completely pointless. The snippet I saw last night validated this. The Chicago Tribune has a nice rundown of the event in case you missed it. Check out more pics from the awards below.
