Kanye West, with his fiancee Alexis Phifer, celebrated two of his favorite things yesterday in Los Angeles — Louis Vuitton, which inspired his nickname, and Murakami, who designed his Graduation cover art. He and a bunch of other fashion-philes attended the Louis Vuitton sponsored gala for the new Murakami exhibit. More after the jump.

Finally, a new video I can stand behind! Not T-Pain in whiteface. Or Nelly being annoying. Or Ja Rule being trite.
We have Common, both handsome and hatless, which I didn’t know was possible, Kanye, Derek Luke, Alicia Keys, Serena Williams, and of course, Kerry Washington, who starred as the slightly stalkerish ex-girlfriend and directed the video for “I Want You,” which may or may not have inspired her and Common to get together in real life. How could the video not work?
I love Jada and Will, I really do. I love them enough to choose not to believe the persistent rumors about either their sexuality or their open marriage. I don’t love them enough to forgive their consistently bad wardrobe decisions, although their casual and semi-formal choices are generally far worse than their awards show attire.
What made Jada decide to dress up as the 2007 version of a Grease Pink Lady? Ponder that while you check out the rest of the pics from The Kingdom’s premiere.

It was the era of the Supermodel — you know, when they all went by their first and last names but certainly didn’t need to — think Naomi, Christy, Linda — and claimed they didn’t get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day.
New York Fashion Week shows were more glamorous (read: they weren’t sponsored by Olympus or Mercedes Benz and were held in lofts, clubs, and restaurants instead of tents). And Sam Fine was behind the scenes — at Geoffrey Bean, Fernando Sanchez, Tracy Reese, Todd Oldham, Isaac Mizrahi, etc. — giving the models faces to match their designer looks or rushing from show to show with Naomi and Tyra.
It was the first half of the ’90s when Sam Fine both assisted the late Kevyn Aucoin and worked the shows on his own. Those were the good ol’ days… that he doesn’t really want to go back to.
“It’s a fun gig, but I leave it to the young at heart and the ones that really love fashion,” he told Stereohyped.
And it’s not like being a celebrity makeup artist, which is the the job Sam Fine graduated to when he left the fashion show world, is any less glamorous. Or that much different.

Paul Pierce and Baron Davis’ All-Star Weekend in L.A. was supposed to be about charity, but wouldn’t it have been more charitable for this disaster of a couple to stay home? On second thought, they probably bring much entertainment to whatever party they attend. As long as they keep the PDAs to a minimum, that is.
Check out more pics from the weekend festivities.

Target threw Common — 9th best MC in the game right now, according to MTV — a nice little Finding Forever release party attended by a random group of people, including two Diana Ross progeny, Serena Williams and Lauren London. No rapper friends showed love?

- Depending on who you are, you might find this photo of Serena Williams horrifying, titillating, or somewhere in between. However you feel, it was nice of her to bare all in Jane magazine for charity. [SR]
- Tameka Foster found Chilli at Jonetta Patton’s house recently and screamed, “Doesn’t your boyfriend have a mom you can visit?” I would have yelled back, “Don’t you have kids you can go take care of?” []
- Congrats to Laila Ali and Curtis Conway, who got married this weekend. [People]
- Another congrats to Lisa Bonet and boy toy Jason Momoa on their new baby daughter. []
- I wonder how much promoters have the nerve to charge for Bobby Brown’s Greatest Hits tour. [J-N]
The Espy Awards — where the celebrities of sports and entertainment meet and take hilarious pictures with one another (see above) — were last night. LaDainian Tomlinson was the big winner, and host LeBron James did a routine, with costume, to “My Prerogative,” but you won’t see any of that unless you watch the awards on ESPN this Sunday. For me, the pictures are quite enough. Check out Mary J. Blige, Shaq, Reggie Bush, Serena Williams, and more after the jump.

Serena Williams doesn’t go down without a fight. In yesterday’s Wimbledon match against Daniela Hantuchova, Williams went from writhing in agony to handily beating her opponent, thanks to a two-hour rain delay in the middle of the match.
Late in the second set of her fourth-round match, Serena Williams could barely walk. Her left leg was cramping badly. She was writhing on the court, screaming, and in tears. The pain in her leg was excruciating. Yet she refused to quit — “I’m going to die trying,” she said — and prayed for rain. (That’s a prayer that is guaranteed to be answered here this year.)
Minutes later, standing in one place on the court, barely moving while swatting the ball as she soldiered on, facing certain defeat, Williams was rewarded by the tennis gods with a whopping two-hour rain delay.
None of this is hard to believe. I mean, look at Serena Williams. She looks pretty damn resilient to me.
