I didn’t go to a high school where security guards were required — we just kind of had matronly retired teachers working as narcs who posted up against the cafeteria doors and occasionally roamed the hallways.
They were more likely to cast an indulgent smile at the bad behavior of the (predominately white and wealthy) kids. For instance, if someone dropped a piece of cake on the cafeteria floor, they would shake their heads and smile, and kindly ask the person to pick it up. And the person in question would brattily call her a name she didn’t understand and grudgingly pick up the cake, no doubt leaving behind a smear of crumbs and icing. That’s how things work, or used to work, where I went to school as a teenager.
Let’s fast-forward a decade (yikes), and travel to Palmdale, Calif., where a young girl who dropped cake on the cafeteria floor was arrested and ended up with a broken wrist, courtesy of school security. Her friend, who videotaped the incident on his camera phone, was also arrested for his troubles, along with his sister, who was just a bystander. Oh, and the girl claims the security guard said, during the melee, “stay still nappy head.” The cake-dropper’s mom was also arrested. See it to believe it.

Uh, what?! I watched the fox 5 video. What in the world? When did (night) high school become Rikers? Did the cake have some biological weapon? I don’t understand.
Palmdale is a holding city for the next generation of criminals. I put 5 on the high school probably needing the SWAT at least 2x a week. When ppl from Compton, Lynwood, South Central, etc. started getting pushed out by Mexicans they moved to Palmdale and Lancaster b/c the homes could be purchased for hella cheap. Those cities are a mess.
…a mess. If you are right about needing the SWAT team part, and I hope you aren’t, that is the perfect example of how not to handle injustices. Uh, if her mother pushed the security guards,
then she deserves to spend a night in jail but I don’t see what the kids did wrong.
And expelled? WTF?
I don’t even go to Palmdale/Lancaster if I can help it (and I grew up off and on in some hood areas!). The homes were so cheap that they attracted very low income ppl who could purchase homes for the first time. So you have a mix of ghetto black ppl and trailer park white folks. It’s like the wild, wild west in those cities. I am really, really biased (can you tell?) b/c everytime I am out there some stupid person steps to me and I end up getting into some verbal ish with someone. For that reason I am inclined to believe that the popos should put the arm-twister on all kids who drop cake in Palmdale! I’m kidding of course….but not by much.
I’m enjoying reading the uproar over at Democratic Underground about this.
enjoy is the wrong word. I am happy that this story is getting attention from different blogs (read: non-black), too.
Anyone want to know the whole story? The girl with the “broken wrist” attacked a female security guard and that’s when they moved in. Her arm or wrist isn’t broke and that was exposed by ABC, her doctor as well as the police officers who saw her sign release forms after booking. Just another group of blacks taking advantage of a disturbance they created. Too many idiots are taking the side of the frauds
