Everybody makes mistakes. In Fox News’ case, you’ve got to wonder how many mistakes are actually accidental. The genuises over there displayed a video of Congressman John Conyers, D-MI, during a story about disgraced Congressman William Jefferson. No, they don’t have similar names. They don’t look alike. They aren’t from the same geographical region. But they’re both black, congressmen, and Democrats, so I guess that’s all that matters to Fox. They issued an apology following the mishap, but failed to mention Conyers’ name at all. Shockingly, he is not happy about the error, and had this to say:
Fox News has a history of inappropriate on-air mistakes that are neither fair, nor balanced. This type of disrespect for people of color should no longer be tolerated. I am personally offended by the network’s complete disregard for accuracy in reporting and lackluster on-air apology.
Oh, Al Sharpton. I mean, Jesse Jackson. Or is it Charles Rangel? Whatever your name is, lighten up.

I would love to be surprised or shocked, but like you said, it’s Fox News. But, do you know how funny it would have been if they had put Rangel’s picture up there. He would have would have gone off! I guess Fox is completely tactless and inappropriate, but not dumb.
Fox News is so transparent. Barack “Osama” and then to (un)intentionally put up the wrong picture. How does this even happen? You have to go searching to put up the wrong picture. Ridiculous.
**sigh** I agree, one would have to actively search for that wrong pic. But my theory on this and other “mistakes” that GOP backed networks and organizations have committed, is that their ultimate role model, aka leader of the free world, aka my commander in ‘cheat’–sanctions these types of actions with his own. Why shouldn’t they do it? Bush does it and gets away with it every day. Makes his own rules, ignores international regulations, and still smiles in everyone’s face. Dammmit!

Please do not take this as a defense for Fox News’ actions but, I did want to clear one thing up that Veturnera said because I work in television. You don’t have to actively search for the wrong video. It could have been archived incorrectly, or an editor simply could have cut the wrong video as dozens of stories are often on the same tape.
That being said, if this was anyone else other than Fox News, I would give them the benefit of the doubt. But we all know Fox.
