Kanye West, who has proclaimed himself to be anti-bling in the past, is launching a jewelry line with Takashi Murakami, the artist who designed Graduation’s cover art.
West last week unveiled a prototype piece from his upcoming jewelry line, which currently has no release date, at fashion designer Givenchy’s show in New York.
He said, “They’ll be more accessible, they won’t be all diamonds.”
But the ones with diamonds won’t be of the conflict/blood variety. Right, Kanye?

More accessible? Like rubies, sapphires, tanzanite, etc?? LOL. They can cost just as much as diamonds. Good tanzanite costs even more. By accessible does he mean a “people’s” line of jewelry? Hahaha.
Terrence Howard advocates the use of lab-created diamonds
I don’t even fuck with diamonds usually. I’m somewhat of a jewelry collector (or jewelry whore as my boy says) and I go for gems that alot of ppl don’t have like prasiolite, chrome diopside, rhodalite, etc. Diamonds are overrated….except for the ones in my engagement ring. Hahaha.
I want small diamond hoops and 1/2 ct studs. I’m a pearl girl and since I’ve lost several, I’m trying to find ones with strong screw backs.
I like citrine and diamonds on white gold or platinum. I also like the vintage looking stuff (~10k gold) and Indian gold (22/24k) in small amounts.
Conflict diamond or not, diamonds in genereal (just like oil) cause hell for Africans. They get paid low incomes, the money is never seen by the people due to corrupt leaders and foreign corporations (DeBeers, etc). Africa supplies most of the world’s diamonds but Africans are still the poorest people. The only reason “blood diamonds” became an issue is becuz they were a threat to the diamond companies. Nobody cares if it kills Africans (just like Darfur). It’s the money that matters.
