The Color Purple will no longer be the only black kid in the Broadway clique. The annoyingly-named Great White Way may get even darker if Debbie Allen’s all-black production of the Tennessee Williams play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, comes to fruition.

Rumored to be starring as Brick, the brooding, alcoholic ex-football player who won’t have sex with his wife? Page Six says LL Cool J. I say, hahaha. Yes, I know he’s a certified rapper/actor. But please. How many struggling, extremely talented black theater and movie actors out there would kill in this role? Also, 1,000 crunches a day do not count as preparation for the rigors of Broadway.

I know probably seem like a huge geek, but I love old movies. COAHTR is one of my favorites, because it’s the first time I saw a young Paul Newman. Anyway, I can’t watch LL in anything without obsessing over his odd shaped head, or counting how many times he licks his lips. He would ruin the play for me. I could watch Henry Simmons in that part though! I would catch a case over that man.

Nic, I was trying to figure out how I wasn’t going to mention that milk dud of a head he’s got. As long as he’s got on a hat, kangol, scarf or something, he’s all good…but, take the cover off of that dome? Whew! Throwing shade like a mug with that jug head. I know that’s not nice…but it’s true.

Henry Simmons is fine, but he might be a little too quiet for that role. Is it just me, or does he seem to not even realize how fine he is?

@ Sugar,
I know, he does seems like the most non-conceited guy. That’s what makes him so sexy.
