Joe Biden said nothing but the truth as anyone who has ever taught in an inner city school will tell you. My fiance has said the same things. Many, many black kids come into the classroom from very early ages with small vocabularies b/c they are not read to or spoken to in a way that would foster larger/better ones. He’s now a sherriff and he’s run into some kids that he taught. The cycle begins very early.
Don’t shoot the messenger. I wouldn’t have put “black” in there because D.C. is getting less and less black by the day. Inner city parents often do not invest in their children regardless of skin color. Income and the fact that there are many one-parent households have a great deal to do with it, but it’s not an excuse. It’s hard but there are many who manage to do it.
