Not to speak ill of the dead, of course, but when a guy’s finances and family life are in a complete and total shambles nearly a year after his death, you’ve got to come to the conclusion that James Brown left this earth with many, many unresolved issues. And unclaimed children, but that’s a different story for a different time.
Special administrators appointed to look into the handling of James Brown’s estate have told a judge that a former trustee may have misappropriated up to $7 million of the late soul singer’s money.
The judge agreed that Brown’s heirs could pursue those claims and ordered the ex-trustee to pay $370,000 back to the estate, on top of $350,000 the man repaid last month.
At that rate, the trustee is going to be paying back that $7 million he took for quite a while. And with look-a-like children coming out of the woodwork, they’re going to need every penny of that trust for the mass payout.

Why did they wait until the man was dead to do this? Something seems so foul about chasing this money down now that he’s dead. These kids knew he was their pappy (I love that word!) and they waited until he died to start talking all this “my daddy” stuff? Shady. Let the dead rest. If they didn’t have the balls to step to him for the money when he was alive then they should just let it go.
I’m going to guess they were getting checks before and when he dropped dead, they stopped coming. I find the tons of kids on the side distasteful. How far could these kids go in life if their father was sleeping with everything with two legs, a hole and a heartbeat? And their mothers reduced themselves to semen receptacles?
You know what, though? Kids don’t choose their parents and aren’t responsible for their triflin’ ways. If they’re legitimately his kids, why should he be let off the hook, even in death?
I agree carlagirl, though I believe that how far you go in life is strongly linked to the kind of parents you have. My reference to the distasteful nature of it was James Brown. His kids need to all split the money. Guess Diddy is trying to follow in the Godfather’s footsteps.
