I’m not really a Tyler Perry or Madea fan — yes, I know many of you love him — so I was surprised when I watched the trailer for Why Did I Get Married, starring T.P., Janet Jackson, Sharon Leal, Jill Scott, Malik Yoba, Michael Jai White, etc., and didn’t want to shut the window before it was over. It doesn’t necessarily look like a movie I would love, but I’m not mad at it either. Baby steps.

Shit looks pretty good to me. Better than seeing black people doing/selling drugs or some lame stereotypical comedy (ie, Who’s Your Caddy).

You know this actually looks REALLY good! Esp since I am a newly wed… Is that Jill Scott????

AGREED JillyBean. BET needs to never do a movie again after Who’s Your Caddy. Refused to see it of course…

I’m not shocked. Pleasantly surprised. I love Madea, and I respect Tyler for what he does in H-wood (or outside I should say), but I’ve been saying that he needs to step his game up now as it’s not like he doesn’t have the money. Step one was to get some better talent (although Kimerly Elise is the business and I am waiting for my girl to become a household name!) and step two was to stop writing for the “after Church” folks. There was a step three, but I forgot what is was…..

Wait wait wait…BET produced ‘Who’s Your Caddy’? I didn’t know that. No wonder it was so embarassing!!!

I was thinking the same thing when I first started watching the trailer. I’m like “Wait, is that Jill Sc- yeah right that’s not her.” And it is!!!

Support this movie. Even if its boring (I love Janet and stuff, so it won’t be for more) its still better than those degrading films about black folks we see every damn day…you know that.
