Still on the defensive about his foreign policy snafu at the CNN debate earlier this week, Barack Obama has made some grandiose claims to set himself back on track. It’ll probably do the opposite of help his cause.
“One thing I’m very confident about is my judgment in foreign policy is, I believe, better than any other candidate in this race, Republican or Democrat,” Obama said.
Others in the race have spent decades in the foreign policy world, including Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., who visited 82 countries as first lady, Vietnam veteran Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., and former Vietnam prisoner of war Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
But Obama said, “The notion that somehow from Washington you get this vast foreign policy experience is illusory.”
Maybe he should just change the subject, instead?
Meanwhile, Obama-enemy Mitt Romney’s overstating his case.

After his statements about having tea with Kim Jong-Il, Castro and them, there’s a significant chance that I’ll vote for a republican over him if it comes to that. Like bright eyed college students, he has a sweet idealism about the world, but I know enough now that it’s naive. He’s a smart guy. I’m sure he knows the history and all the factors at play, but that’s not enough. It’s not saying that he can’t win. Bush came in without even knowing a lick of world government.
