News outlets across the country posted online stories about the questionable futures of Richard Parsons and Stanley O’Neal, the black CEOs of Time Warner and Merrill Lynch, last week, but if you searched Google News for “Richard Parsons,” the results popped up accompanied by a picture of monkeys. Oops!
According to Google, they have yet to find a foolproof way of matching images with news stories — a problem that sometimes has disastrous results. But I’m sure there is a contingent of people in the U.S. and elsewhere that thought the monkey photo perfectly matched the subject matter.[NW]
Google, please. Someone at your company does that shit on purpose. All of the algorithm excuses don’t mean anything to me, you liars. I will happily continue to use Yahoo as a means to search the internet.
Basically. I remember that at some point, if you searched it with “feeling lucky?” for “failure,” you’d get the White House and “grade inflation,” you’d get Harvard. Those geeks are crafty.
Google is a great company…even though they didn’t hire me b/c I didn’t got to an ivy league school. That’s ok. I will continue to apply for jobs there. They have a tennis court among other extravagances on their Google Campus (office)! Monkeys be damned, a tennis court, people!!!!!!
LOL, bmd. I want to work at Google, too. They have a bar in the building and you can drink at work!
BMD, an Ivy education won’t get you in. It didn’t work for me but then my field is not even remotely related. But I learn so quickly…
