The ever-growing blogosphere has not only given the millions of people who write blogs an outlet for their opinions, it’s opened up a forum for anonymous people to tell the world how they really feel in the comments section with no personal consequences. Unfortunately, not all blog commentators are as smart and thoughtful and funny as Stereohyped’s.

Take this post on Wired.com’s blog, for instance. The writer was clearly denouncing the recent statements from James Watson that painted Africans as intellectually inferior people. But take a glance at the comments, filled with people who are celebrating Watson’s “courage.” In theory, we can shrug away Watson’s statements as the racist ramblings of an aging scientist. But the truth is, his ridiculous words provide just the “proof” that racists have been looking for.

Thanks, Racialicious!

This pisses me off so much! I mean, I’m not surprised, but when is enough enough? When do people like Watson and the commenters on that post just start to get OVER themselves?? There are probably 7,436 ways to argue that intelligence testing is skewed. The centuries of social and economic advantages that whites have had over African descendants equal all kinds of affirmative action, and the means to determine what something as subjectively measurable as intelligence actually means.

Like a post earlier this week, I swear this stuff just wears me OUT!

Sycophants who continue to lick the a– of this man are not threatening as they don’t have the capacity to come up with an opinion of their own.

James Watson’s words are damaging because they legitimize racism by using ’science’ to back it up. Which can be frustrating and hurtful - especially if you’re like me and can’t find his ‘logic’ with science but only anecdotal cultural evidence.
But daria is right the people who are in support of this man’s ideas do not have a healthy mental capacity. Ironic really, given the whole debate hinges on intelligence. All they need to do is read further into Mr Watson’s ideas to know that he is a racist/sexist/homophobe - why on Earth would you endorse someone who thinks along those lines?

In the picture above, James Watson looks like he’s made of wax.

He’s nothing but Aryan version 2.0

It’s his US post which is mostly just for show. The man has said some s— before like that we should find the gene for homosexuality and mother’s should be able to test for and abort gay sons (but apparently not daughters).

He’s an old school Darwinian and Eugenicist in the 21st century. It’s sad to see that his “science-backed” theories have supporters, but even sadder to see that most people who agree with him know nothing about science or any scientific theories.

There are so many people in the world who silently agree with everything he said. That should be the real story.
