You never know what personal or emotional struggles people are going through when they refer to “the rain.” Rain is a metaphor for everything in this world. I always say that things can’t always be sunny for plants to grow. You need that rain- a balance of sunshine and rain. I personally was rained on for a year, but now I’ve grown and things are sunny.

So when people say they can’t stand the rain, it may be a metaphor for things going on in their life.

Peace.

Thats why I love this site. Most of the time you see a crazy ignorant comment like that first one and someone responds with something just as crazy and ignorant. Only here can I see an intelligent, well thought out, respectable response!! Gotta love it!

I’ma have to co-sign with jamie–not his vitriol and kooky religiosity, but with his literal interpretation of the post. The way in which people really seem to hate actual rain is a personal pet peeve. Listen to folks: they could be in the midst of a drought but have one day of a light rain–I’m not even talking biblical-flood rain–and they’re moaning and complaining and pining for sunshine.

For me, rain is a welcome reassurance that we haven’t totally destroyed nature. Yet.

No. 7 Lauren Williams, Stereohyped says:

I am a chronic migraine suffer. This condition is exacerbated by weather changes, like dips in barometric pressure and, you guessed it, rain! So no, I can’t stand the rain. It literally brings me pain. And even if it was because I just plain don’t like to get wet, who cares? I live in a walking/public transportation city — when it rains the subways break down, your clothes get filthy, and people poke you in the eye with their umbrellas when you walk down crowded streets. There is a huge difference between not liking something and not understanding why it’s necessary.

I HATE rain. Give me sunshine and palm trees and beaches (and wildfires and earthquakes) anyday.

I, too, suffer from migraines. Relpax and Imitrex have been my friends for a long, long time.

i concur, lauren. my feelings about rain have drastically changed since giving up my car. now that i’m in a city where i rely on walking and public transportation, rain really does totally change the nature of my day and makes things generally unpleasant. (i can definitely appreciate why it’s necessary for the environment, though.)

I too don’t drive and I have a bad knee so I hate the rain, esp on weekdays. If you’re inside on weekends and it rains, that’s okay with me.
